Power plant gate valves—also known as valves specifically designed for power plants—are primarily used in the piping systems of thermal power plants to shut off or allow the flow of media. They are suitable for non-corrosive media such as water and steam. Compared to other types of valves, power plant valves are characterized by their ability to withstand high temperatures and high pressures, as well as a unique self-sealing design—where higher pressure results in an even more reliable seal.
1. Frictionless Opening and Closing: This feature completely eliminates the sealing issues caused by friction between the sealing surfaces, a common problem in traditional valves.
2. Top-Entry Design: Valves installed in pipelines can be inspected and repaired directly in-line, effectively minimizing plant downtime and reducing costs.
3. Single-Seat Design: This design prevents safety risks arising from abnormal pressure buildup within the valve cavity.
4. Low-Torque Design: The valve stem features a specialized design, allowing the valve to be opened or closed easily with only a small handle.
5. Wedge-Type Sealing: The valve achieves a seal by using mechanical force—applied via the stem—to wedge the gate against the valve seat. This ensures that the sealing performance remains unaffected by fluctuations in pipeline pressure, providing reliable operation under various working conditions.
